Activity Theory has been used with great advantage in Scandinavian occupational therapy. It is viding a foundation basic assumptions in occupational therapy and occupational science concerning the importance of activities for human development and rehabilitation. Activity Theory is a psychological theory that regards human mental development as a dialectical process between the and society, in which the subject's own activity is the decisive factor.
Since 1994 "From the patient's point of view" has been used in graduate and postgraduate education to Scandinavia. The book introduces the comprehension and concepts of A.N.Leontev's Activity Theory and its application to occupational therapy.
In 1998 the book was translated into Swedish. This English version targets trained occupational therapists, but will be suitable for graduate and postgraduate students as well.
